CHAPAS-5 KICK OFF MEETING

The CHAPAS 5 consortium held its official kick‑off meeting on 12 January 2026, bringing together representatives from all partnering institutions to mark the start of this important collaborative trial. The meeting provided an opportunity for consortium members to connect, align expectations, and reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing research aimed at improving paediatric HIV treatment and care. Discussions centered on the study’s objectives, operational framework, and the collaborative structures that will guide the project throughout its implementation.

The key agenda items for the day were the official opening of the Chapas-5 project and presentation of the work packages. Each work package presentation was made by the respective leads from the partner institutions. These included University College London, Joint Clinical Research Centre, University of Zimbabwe, Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV and AIDS Research, Makerere University School of Public Health, Stichting Radboud Universitair Medisch Centrum, Fondazione Penta ETS, Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation Uganda, and the University of York. Each team outlined its planned contributions, timelines, and collaborative interfaces, setting a strong foundation for a coordinated and impactful project rollout. Whilst the projected started on 1st November 2025, it had not been officially launched. Therefore, the team officially launched Chapas-5 project.
